Lion's Den is a school app for the North Shore Hebrew Academy High School community. It provides schedules, announcements, athletics information, resources, account tools, notifications, and related school features.
Information We Collect
Depending on how you use Lion's Den, we may collect or store:
- Account information such as name, school email address, role, grade, and user ID.
- Google sign-in information such as your school email, display name, and profile photo URL.
- Device notification identifiers used to send push notifications if notifications are enabled.
- App usage and app version information needed to keep the app working and supported.
- Content submitted or managed by authorized users, such as announcements, schedules, games, rosters, resources, and admin edits.
- Administrative audit details, such as who updated a calendar date, game, schedule, roster, or other school content and when that update occurred.
Photos and Uploaded Media
Authorized users may be able to add images or other media to school content, such as announcements. Lion's Den uses those files only to display and manage the related school content. Users should not upload private, sensitive, or unrelated media.
Information We Do Not Intentionally Collect
Lion's Den is not designed to collect precise location data, health information, financial information, government identification numbers, or sensitive personal information such as racial or ethnic origin, sexual orientation, or religious beliefs. If a future feature requires additional sensitive information, this policy should be updated before that feature is released.
How We Use Information
We use information to:
- Let users sign in with an approved school account.
- Show school schedules, announcements, athletics, rosters, resources, and account information.
- Send push notifications when a user has enabled them.
- Maintain app security, troubleshoot problems, and prevent misuse.
- Keep school content accurate and maintain administrative history.
- Support older app versions while Lion's Den transitions from legacy data sources to Firestore.
Services We Use
Lion's Den may use third-party services to operate the app, including Google sign-in, Firebase/Firestore, OneSignal, Airtable, Google Sheets or Apps Script for legacy compatibility, and web hosting services. These services process information only as needed to provide app functionality, authentication, notifications, storage, compatibility, and support.
Google API Data
Lion's Den uses Google sign-in to authenticate approved school accounts. Information received from Google APIs is used only to provide app functionality, account access, and related school services. Lion's Den's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Push Notifications
If you enable notifications, Lion's Den may store a notification subscription identifier so school-related notifications can be sent to your device. You can turn notifications off in your device settings or in the app where supported.
How Information Is Shared
We do not sell personal information. Information may be shared with school administrators, app administrators, technology staff, and service providers when needed to operate, secure, or support Lion's Den. Information may also be used or disclosed if required by law, school policy, or a safety/security need.
Data Retention
Account and app records may be kept for as long as needed to provide Lion's Den, support school operations, maintain compatibility with older app versions, comply with school requirements, or resolve technical and security issues. Some local app data may remain on your device until you sign out, delete your account from the app where supported, clear app data, or uninstall the app.
Your Choices
- You can choose whether to enable push notifications.
- You can sign out or remove your account from the app where supported.
- You can contact app support to ask questions about your account or app data.
Account Removal
Where the app provides account removal, removing an account may clear local app data and remove or disconnect related app account records. Some records may be retained when needed for school operations, security, audit history, legal compliance, or accurate school records.
Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a copy of personal information associated with your account. These rights may be limited by applicable law, school requirements, security needs, and the need to maintain accurate school records. To make a request, contact us using the email below.
Do Not Track
Some browsers and devices offer Do Not Track signals. There is not currently a uniform standard for responding to those signals, so Lion's Den does not respond to Do Not Track signals at this time.
Children and Students
Lion's Den is intended for members of the NSHAHS community, including students. Student information should be used only for school-related purposes and handled according to school policies and applicable law.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect app data. No system is perfect, so users should not submit highly sensitive information through Lion's Den unless a school-approved feature specifically asks for it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as Lion's Den changes. The effective date above will be updated when material changes are made.
